Chris Prevel

Christopher Dean Prevel, MD, FACS

Dr Prevel is both a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is also certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Surgery and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery through the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Prevel is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has served as an author or co-author of over twenty-eight articles in peer reviewed journals, as well as several book chapters. In addition, Dr. Prevel is the recipient of numerous extramural funded grants for Plastic Surgery research.

Education and Experience:

•Received BA degree, Summa Cum Laude, and Phi Beta Kappa from Colgate University

•Received MD degree from Emory University School of Medicine.

•Completed General Surgery Residency at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals Program and the University of Arizona.

•Completed Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan; Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship in the Departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

•Served as the Director of Microsurgery Research Laboratory from 1991-1995 and was an Assistant Professor of Surgery within the Division of Plastic Surgery of the Department of Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center.

•Appointed as an Associate Professor of Surgery-Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center from March 1996 through May 1998.

•Founded the Kentucky Plastic Surgery Center in Lexington, Kentucky in June 1998 and continued his academic affiliation as a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center from June 1, 1998 until June 30, 2000.

•Founded The Florida Plastic Surgery Institute in Orlando, Florida in January 2000.

•Academic Affiliation from April 2001 thru August 2008 as Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, Florida.

•Current Academic Affiliation since September 2008 is Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery, University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Orlando, Florida.
